INTERVENTION IS A MEETING OF ALL CONCERNED INDIVIDUALS TO HELP INTERRUPT AND ADDRESS THE ADDICTIVE CYCLES AND DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIORS IN A PERSON’S LIFE. THIS DISRUPTION AFFECTS THE ENTIRE FAMILY SYSTEM, CLOSE FRIENDS AND CO-WORKERS.

Pre-Intervention
Assessment — During this critical first meeting, the Interventionist and family meet to discuss treatment options and the recovery process. The group decides when and where the intervention will take place as well as who will participate. For the intervention to be effective, the participants need to be in agreement and commit to the course of action.

Rehearse — With the guidance of the Interventionist, the family prepares and rehearses written statements to share with their loved one during the intervention.

Intervention
The intervention is a structured, solution-focused process. It gives the family and loved ones an opportunity to present observations and concerns regarding the addicts behavior in a caring, objective and non-judgmental manner. The intervention is designed to help the identified person acknowledge destructive behaviors and accept treatment. If the individual accepts help, he or she is immediately escorted to an appropriate treatment facility.

Post-Intervention

An intervention is an extremely difficult and intensely emotional event. Many times, the family will seek continued support and/or direction from the Interventionist or other appropriate counselor.
